Most of the walls in the gallery remained blank, as this was only day one of Moore’s ongoing exhibition at the gallery, Brazen Bull: A Natural Mythstory of North America. By the time Moore’s exhibition closes in April, the walls are expected to be completely lined with his vision of combining American historical figures with inspirations directly from exhibits from the College’s Orma J. Smith Museum of Natural History. It is a process the gallery’s visitors are invited to watch throughout his stay.
At The College of Idaho, the music halls will be decked with more than just holly as the school rings in the holiday season with four performances from music ensembles and individual students between Nov. 29 and Dec. 3.
Coming December 5-7th, Caldwell will be host to the twinkling delights of The Nutcracker. This holiday ballet is a beloved tradition for many, and Eugene Ballet Company is dutifully carrying that torch as they tour the Northwest, stopping for three days of performance in The College of Idaho’s very own Jewett Auditorium. This masterfully choreographed piece will surely be the artistic highlight of the snowy season. An epic set immerses the audience in the wonder of the Snowy Kingdom and The Land of the Sweets, transforming the stage into a true winter wonderland.
Among the 133 students from Idaho and Washington performing at the National Association of Teachers of Singing’s regional competition on Nov. 10-11 were four music students from The College of Idaho, each of whom represented the music program with both high notes and high scores.
The year is 2010. In the windowless breakroom of a Hobby Lobby in Boise, Idaho, a 17-year-old high school student is forced to confront some serious existential crises following the sudden arrival of his estranged father, who himself is fleeing from personal demons following scandals at his Evangelical church in Northern Idaho. And these two aren’t the only ones with issues to confront as they try to deliver top notch customer service at minimum wage for their banal big box retailer.
The College of Idaho will host Montana-based poet Melissa Kwasny for a free reading event at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23 on campus in the Sterry Hall Board Room, where she will read from her most recent collection of poems, Where Outside the Body is the Soul Today.

When they aren’t mentoring the next generation of artists in Langroise Hall, the faculty of The College of Idaho’s art department works to perfect their own craft. Starting on Sept. 14, 2017, the faculty will present their own work for the Rosenthal Faculty Art Show, which will be one of many activities making up the College’s 2017 Homecoming Week.
