College of Idaho junior Irvin Brown stood at a lone podium in the Langroise Recital Hall the night before Martin Luther King Jr. Day to quote the man himself. Brown, an anthropology/sociology major, and over a hundred other members of the C of I community had just finished marching by candlelight to Langroise from Simplot Stadium, crossing Blaine Street and Cleveland Boulevard in honor of the civil rights icon, showing solidarity with his message of equality.

The College of Idaho spent roughly two hours on lockdown Monday after a student reported being threatened with a gun by two individuals in a campus parking lot adjacent to the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

On Jan. 31, The College of Idaho will soft open the Cruzen-Murray Library for students on campus, but before that can happen there is a secret force working behind the scenes ensuring that this will be possible.

To honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., the College of Idaho has planned a number of events both before and on Martin Luther King Day meant to encourage the community to unite against inequality and promote service and empathy on both a local and national level.

This spring, classes at The College of Idaho will be in session for more than just its enrolled students thanks to the College’s Community Learning program, which will feature 28 exciting classes open to all members of the community.

At The College of Idaho, the music halls will be decked with more than just holly as the school rings in the holiday season with four performances from music ensembles and individual students between Nov. 29 and Dec. 3.

Coming December 5-7th, Caldwell will be host to the twinkling delights of The Nutcracker. This holiday ballet is a beloved tradition for many, and Eugene Ballet Company is dutifully carrying that torch as they tour the Northwest, stopping for three days of performance in The College of Idaho’s very own Jewett Auditorium. This masterfully choreographed piece will surely be the artistic highlight of the snowy season. An epic set immerses the audience in the wonder of the Snowy Kingdom and The Land of the Sweets, transforming the stage into a true winter wonderland.

The College of Idaho’s Morrison Quadrangle will soon brighten with shining purple lights to ring in the start of the holiday season as the College celebrates its 5th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27.

Little, who is one of several Republican candidates running for governor next year, was invited by the C of I’s Republican Club to speak on campus as part of a series of candidate visits the club intends to organize throughout the school year leading up to 2018’s midterm elections. Junior history major and Republican Club President Lauren Smyser said the forums are intended to generate discussion among C of I students and give them the opportunity to personally learn more about their local and state candidates.

On Monday, Nov. 20, eight talented women of The College of Idaho will take a trip down the rabbit hole of Jewett Auditorium and enter into Wonderland in the name of charity as they compete for the title of “Miss C of I” at one of the school year’s most entertaining student events.
